Frequently Asked Questions
Are your gauze pads sterile or non-sterile?
▼
We offer both sterile and non-sterile gauze pads. Sterile gauze pads are individually wrapped and suitable for open wounds or surgical use. Non-sterile options are typically used for external cleaning, cushioning, or non-invasive applications.
Do you offer gauze pads made from different materials?
▼
Yes, our gauze pads come in 100% cotton as well as non-woven options. Cotton gauze is highly absorbent, while non-woven gauze is softer, typically non-adherent, and better for sensitive skin.
What is the difference between woven and non-woven gauze?
▼
Woven gauze is made from loosely woven fibres, such as cotton, offering excellent absorbency. It's best for general cleaning, padding, and heavy drainage. Non-woven gauze is made from synthetic fibres, softer, non-adherent, and preferred where minimising lint is important.
How does the ply count affect the gauze's performance?
▼
Ply count indicates the number of gauze layers folded together. A higher ply count means a thicker, denser pad. Our range includes 4 ply, 8 ply, and 12 ply. 4 ply is suitable for light-duty cleaning and applications with minimal fluid. 8 ply and 12 ply are highly absorbent and offer greater cushioning and protection, making them ideal for wounds with moderate to heavy exudate (drainage) and for use as wound padding.
